SMOG CHECK
Vehicles 2000 & Newer
The California Smog Check OIS (On-Board Diagnostics Inspection system) is primarily used to collect electronic emissions control system data from model year 2000 and newer vehicles. In addition a comprehensive visual and functional inspection is performed to insure all vehicles meet California inspection standards.
Vehicles 1999 and older require a ASM (acceleration simulation mode) inspection, which involves testing a vehicle’s emissions while it is operated on a dynamometer, which simulates real driving conditions. This method provides accurate measurements of pollutants, ensuring that the vehicle meets state emissions standards for improved air quality. As with OIS inspections, a complete visual and functional inspection is performed.
